Hello,
I am plotting to spend a few days in San Francisco, but I cannot choose which of these two hotels I should take and whether they are in a safe/ excellent area of San Francisco or not.
Is the Adante Hotel in a safe area of San Francisco?
It is located in 610 Geary Street.
The other hotel is called La Luna Inn and it is located in 2599 Lombard Steet. Is a cable car station close to that hotel and ore the main sights excellent reachable from that hotel?
It would be nice if somebody who have stayed in one these hotel could tell me whether it is a excellent/ nice hotel and whether it is recommendable. Thanks!
this is based from the opinions i got from the internet:
Adante Hotel::
i Had a pleasant 4 nite stay at the Adante and read some very uneven reviews.For the money you know that you should lower your expectations, having said that front desk staff were always courteousand helpful, housekeeping was always on top of things, rooms done everyday and done right. We had the park and room rate and with the transit…
We have previously stayed at the sister hotel, The York, and had a pleasant stay, so we thought we would give the Adante a try.This is an ancient fashioned, mid sized hotel in a excellent central location. The staff were very friendly, and the hotel was clean.The decor of the room was a bit weird (undersea mural painted…)
We loved our stay at Adante Hotel & would stay there again. We were greeted Tony at checkin who was always friendly & helpful at the front desk. Our room was clean & tidy with a huge ensuite, huge TV, iron, safe & ceiling fan. The area can feel a bit dodgy at night, but we felt safe going to…
I have just come back from San Francisco. I stayed at the Adante hotel for 10 nights with my girlfriend and we don’t have a single complaint about it. The hotel is clean, the rooms are cleaned everyday. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our toilet got blocked while we were there and we informed the front desk of this…
They were having computer problems and couldn’t check us in straight away. They locked our luggage in a room and bought us a couple of drinks while we waited. I’d only recommend the room as a place to sleep and shower. If you aren’t plotting on spending much time at your hotel it is perfect. It is clean, safe, and…
My family and I stayed for 1 night and I must say, I had a few reservations after reading the previous reviews. But, the hotel was basic and ancient but clean. Our bathroom was quite new and very clean. The complimentary breakfast was adequate and there was plenty to fill up on. It was centrally located and an simple walk…
We arrived about 10.00pm and was advised by the friendly front desk staff member that we had been allocated a delux queen room. Room was a excellent size with a separate couch. Batthroom was very large. Room very clean and bed comfortable. All staff were very courteous and helpful. I would stay again and recommend this Hotel to others.
I stayed here in June 2007. I booked through expedia and got a fantastic rate ($65/night). The hotel is centrally located. It is indeed not far from the sketchy part of the city (to the right as you exit the hotel), but it is still safe and only three blocks away from the Union Square and all the restaurants and…
My mother and I flew to San Francisco 5/19 for a concert and stayed one night at The Adante Hotel. The hotel certainly needs some work.1) The room accomodations were unsatisfactory. Apon walking into my room I was horrified by the color of the walls, which were a shade of yellow that looked ike someone had urinated on them….
As a experianced traveller (have been on the road for 6 months) this hotel is not represented accuratley- Decor and condition is shocking NO A/C, service is so so-dated, smelly, not anywhere as excellent as a best western/motel 6/super 8.Hand painted murals on poor quality walls to disguise age-just…
La Luna Inn :::
Stayed for 3 nights before moving on to LA. The hotel was located at the Golden Gate bridge end of Lombard Street about 30 minutes walk from Fishermans Wharf and Pier 39. There was a lot of traffic noise from our front facing room which may bother some people but we didn’t find it much of a problem. The rooms…
Motel style but really nice modern rooms, staff were so helpful, on main road so slightly noisy and as a motel style you can here people wheeling their luggage and talking outside, dont let that place you off though cos I am REALLY sensitive to noisy hotels and i really loved our stay here. Beds were huge and really comfy….
This hotel is just a place to crash, but at the same time, it’s not ideal. It gets the job done but, and it’s super cheap for the area.Pros:Felt pretty safe although Lombard is crazy busyComfy bedsVery cleanFree parking (we had no distress finding a spot)Cheap rate!Cons:Even the back of the hotel…
Perhaps the first problem was booking via an online site. I have found in the past that this means in many hotels that you get the worst rooms. We were in room #3, on the first floor on the parking lot. There was a workdesk but you had to go it and block the small space to hang clothes as…
My husband and I stayed in La Luna Inn for two nights during a recent vacation to California. With tax, we paid about $107 a night, a excellent value, I reckon. The hotel is very cheery and nicely kept. The room was small, but that really didn’t bother us. We weren’t in it much anyway. A small bit of a…
We had a pleasant stay at La Luna Inn. The room was large and clean, the beds were comfortable. The staff was helpful, the continental breakfast was a convenient way to start a day. The parking was free. The price was a small over $100. We’ll definately stay there again. Los Angeles
Much better than I thought it would be. Clean rooms, helpful desk people, adequate bathroom, free parking is a excellent thing in SF. Leave your car there and take the bus or cabs to where you want to go. Rooms in the back were ok but those in our party who stayed on the street side said it was very…
Note: these opinion are not from me..ive just got it on the internet and my friends..hope ive helped u
La Luna is pretty far away from everything, except it’s walking distance to the Presidio and Palace of Fine Arts (and simple driving access to the Golden Gate Bridge). You’d have to take a bus to connect with a cable car. It’s a pretty safe area of town, but busy traffic-wise.
Adante is in an OK part of town. Just stay east and north of the area. Simple access to public transportation (many Geary buses) and you’re just a few blocks away from cable car access at Union Square.
try checking out yelp.com
its has reviews from real people who have visited/stayed at these locations.
Adante is – a couple of blocks away from Union Square – but I would be careful one more block your gonna be in the loin – tenderloin, and that could be terrible.
Lombard is in a very excellent neighborhood.
That part of geary is near an area called “Lower Nob Hill”, but the actual area is the Tenderloin. It is a touch harsh, but not fully rough.
How close to downtown do you need to be?

The Adante Hotel is located on Geary St. in the Tenderloin area. It’s one of the rougher areas in town, mostly OK in daytime if you keep your wits about you. Some druggies, alcoholics, street people, panhandlers, a homeless shelter are in that area. Hotel is within walking distance of Union Square shopping, closer to civic center and also the Market St. retail shopping. It’s in a very convenient location if you don’t mind that it is in a fringe neighborhood with different kinds of action at night after downtown businesses close and all the downtown workers have gone home.
Lombard St. is a busy Blvd. But it’s OK, near Fisherman’s Wharf, the pier, the national recreation area, public transportation.
I’ve never stayed at any of those hotels, but my husband and I stayed at the Maxwell. It’s in Union square and it was pretty centrally located. Plus it wasn’t very expensive, and the rooms were fine.
